France :
Rhone
The Rhône Valley falls into two fairly distinct sections: north and south. Both areas are major producers of red wine, but with some very distinct differences. In the northern Rhône, the climate is cooler and Syrah is the preeminent red grape while in the south the main grape is Grenache, often blended with Syrah, Mourvèdre and Cinsault. White wine is also made throughout the region, the key grapes being Viognier, Marsanne and Roussanne.
