Spirits :
Apéritif & Digestive
Aperitifs are usually drunk before the meal to stimulate the appetite. Most common are Lillet, Sherry, Champagne and certain beverages that go well with mezedes such as Ouzo and Raki.
Digestives come after the meal and their main purpose is to aid in digestion. They usually have a stronger alcohol content then what is served before the meal. Nothing feels better after a large meal than a nice glass of grappa going down your throat. And for an upset stomach, Fernet Branca with seltzer water and a slice of lemon is a cure all.
