Armagnac & Cognac
When asked what the major difference is between Cognac and Armagnac, one of our answers is "location, location, location." Cognac is located to the north of Bordeaux while Armagnac is south. Both are typically made with one or all three varietals of white grapes: Folle Blanche, Ugni Blanc and Colombard. Both see oak aging, but since there is a double distillation process with Armagnac more time is needed for aging, giving the brandy a more rustic, sometimes rounder mouth feel.
