Behrens and Hitchcock are known for their cult, highly extracted and intense wines, and this Syrah is a perfect example. It has an inky purple color and a nose of blackberries with a hint of tar. Full-bodied with flavors of pepper, spice and dark fruit, this wine is towards the top in terms of alcohol, but has excellent acidity and a robust tannic structure to hold it all together. Enjoy it with beef, lamb or a fine sheep's milk cheese.
