Coutet 03 Barsac 750 ml
Château Coutet is to Barsac what Château d'Yquem is to Sauternes, a great sweet white wine produced from Semillon and Sauvignon grapes from some of the best vineyards in the area. One of the oldest estate of the area, blessed with exceptional soils and distinguished architectural heritage, Coutet continues to be an important part of the history of the vineyards of Bordeaux. The estate benefits from a unique humid microclimate created by the nearby Cerons and Garonne Rivers; conditions essential for the formation of the noble rot which allows the production of excellent, balanced and vibrant sweet wine. The 2003 vintage was classified as the fattest vintage ever in Sauternes and Barsac, the result of a very hot summer season that increased sugar levels and reduced acidity levels. Coutet still managed to make a very interesting Barsac, less opulent and more vibrant than those of other Châteaux. Coutet has always been recognized for its beautiful balance, high acidity, fruit concentration and depth, without being heavy or syrupy, and the 2003, although riper than the 2001, still retained very good acidity, allowing for freshness and balance.
