One of the most prominent and established Rhône producers, Guigal owns vineyards in Condrieu and in Côte-Rôtie with illustrious plots producing wines that have become flagships of their appellations. Produced from fifty-year-old vines (including some planted in the 16th century) from six different vineyards, "Chateau d'Ampuis" is a blend of 95% Syrah and 5% Viognier from the illustrious single vineyard of the same name. It Aged for 38 months in new oak, it is one of the most stunning Côte-Rôties on the market; it shows dense, expressive and intense spices, black fruits and delicate oak aromas on the nose. Tannic and racy, the expressive palate has flavors of prunes, blackberry and vanilla with a powerful, concentrated and structured mid-palate. It shows great ageing potential for up to twenty years.
