Adelaide 00 Barolo Riserva "Per E 750 ml
For over 100 years, Cascina Adelaide has been making high quality wines defined by their "cru" vineyards. "Per Elen" Riserva is probably one of the best Barolos of Cascina Adelaide and this 2000 vintage is undeniably an excellent wine. Knowing that there would be no new Barolo released in the 2002 vintage (due to the infamous low quality of the vintage), owner Amabile Drocco and Sergio Molino, his winemaker, decided to hold back the very best cask of 2000 Barolo Preda and let it continue to age "in botte," to be released in 2006 as a Riserva. The result is this wine, which Molino promises will evolve to be the greatest wine Cascina Adelaide has released to date. Thus began a new tradition at Cascina Adelaide, to save a little bit of the very best grapes each year and make them into this reserve, dedicated to Drocco's wife, Elena.
