Aldo Conterno consistently produces Barolos that are quite stunning, yet the 04 vintage elevated those to even higher grounds. The Barolo Colonnello Bussia is crafted from 40-45-year-old Nebbiolo vines, resulting in a wine of great depth and complexity. To further enhance the quality of the wine, Conterno fermented in stainless steel tanks where the wine stayed for about six months before being transferred into big Slovenian oak barrels, where it remained for another 28-30 months before bottling. The resulting wine is young with a firm tannic structure and plenty of generous fruit and great ageing potential.
