Owned by the Gambero family since the 60s, Casa Sola is a winery located in the heart of Chianti Classico, among 300 acres of vineyards, forest and olive groves. In 1987 they created their own SuperTuscan wine, Montarsiccio. A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 10% Sangiovese grapes coming from the three-acre vineyard of the same name, Montarsiccio was vinified in stainless steel tanks, then aged for 24 months in French oak barrels and an additional 12 months in bottle before release. The 1995 vintage possesses a garnet red color with slight brick reflections. The expressive nose offers a perfect blend of floral, ripe red berry and oaky aromas. The palate is nicely integrated, with great balance, juicy fruit and velvety tannins.
