Celestino Gaspari, who was the winemaker at Quintarelli for twenty years and is consulting winemaker for Dal Forno, makes all the Marion wines. The Campedelli family acquired the property in 1988. Initially the production went to the Cantina Sociale di Colognola ai Colli, but in 1994, with the encouragement of consulting winemaker Gaspari, the Campedellis decided to begin producing and bottling the wine on their own. 1999 was the first vintage labeled under the Marion label. The wines are usually aged for at least thirty months in oak barrels before blending and bottling. This wine is big and bold: with deep aromas and flavors of dark fruit and spice it is beefy and full in the mouth. It has good concentration and balance, making it an excellent accompaniment to cheeses, steak, dark chocolate and even cigars.
