Brane Cantenac 05 Margaux 750 ml
Owned by Henri Lurton, this second-growth chateau has always been an institution and one of the most classic and recognizable wines of the Margaux appellation. Since 1992, Henri Lurton has made it his aim to produce each year the best wine possible while remaining faithful to the outstanding historic terroir of Brane. Since 1997, the addition of a spacious vat cellar, modern winemaking techniques and a new team has enabled him to accomplish this task. Crafted with grapes from 35-year-old vines, the Brane-Cantenac 2005 vintage is a blend of 51% Cabernet Sauvignon, 43% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Franc aged for 18 months in 60 % new French oak . The resulting wine is a beautiful Margaux bursting with a deep, dark garnet color and a nose full of red fruits, berries and flowers mixed with hints of oak. This is a big wine by Margaux standards, with lush texture and a very interesting, soft and integrated tannic structure. The long fresh finish is also full of fruit flavors mixed with toasted and earthy notes.
