Guigal 93 Mouline Cote Rotie 750 ml
One of the most prominent and established Rhone producers, GUIGAL owns vineyards in Condrieu and in Côte-Rôtie with illustrious plots producing wines which have each become flagships of their appellations. Produced from 75 year old terraced vines in the shape of a Roman amphitheatre planted on rich Gneis with lightly colored silicone soils with limestone lœss, “La Mouline” is a blend of 89% Syrah and 11% Viognier wine from the illustrious single vineyard of the same name. It was aged for 42 months in new oak. The resulting wine is one of the most stunning Cote-Rotie on the market offering intense and refined small red fruits, blackberry and floral violet aromas on the nose. The expressive palate is supple with balance between the finesse of the aromas and an explosive richness due to the concentration of the wine and greatly expressive of the Terroir. Overall less opulent than “La Landonne”, “La Mouline” is a feminine wine with voluptuous silky texture and intense aromas. It shows great ageing potential up to 20 years. Pair this exceptional wine with exceptional food like pheasant, partridge and hare. The 1993 still has some life and is fully open now. Tertiary aromas and integrated structure constitute the best features of this great wine.
