Cockburns 00 Vintage Porto
Cockburn's was founded in 1815 and has grown to become one of the world's great Port houses. Only the most exceptional wines of elegance merit a vintage from the Cockburn label, and after the laborious yet rewarding process of tasting, this wine was chosen to carry the title of the 2000 vintage. It is inky and opaque in color, with a purplish hue. The nose has very complex earthy tones with smoke, tar and bramble. The fruit is decidedly black and of a cassis-like concentration. The pungent flavors fill the mouth, making this wine full-bodied and big in style and effect. The finish is long and seductive. A bit dryer than other Ports, this one makes an exceptional after dinner drink or accompaniment to dark chocolate desserts.
