When Domaine Francoise & Denis Clair was founded in 1986, it had 12.3 acres of vineyards located in Santenay. The family now farms 37 acres (65% red and 35% white), the majority of which are located in Saint-Aubin. In 2000, their son Jean-Baptiste joined the family business and together they've expanded the Domaine's production to approximately 6,250 cases/year. Denis works the soil naturally, using compost and frequent plowing and avoids pesticides and herbicides. The Pinot Noir is cold macerated before fermentation and the whites receive regular batonnage.
