Helmut Becker, a major producer in the Rheinhessen, is an enthusiastic supporter of the grape; his version offers succulently ripe flavors of apricot and grapefruit balanced against a subtly savory, almost eucalyptus-like herbalness that is pleasantly assertive without dominating.
