Simonsig is a substantial (518 acres) estate located in the foothills of the Simonsberg mountains in South Africa's Cape region; begun by the late Frans Malan in 1953, it remains today family-owned and -operated, with duties shared among his three sons, François, Pieter, and Johan. Simonsig is widely considered one of the leading producers of Pinotage: their version is medium-bodied with a fruity nose and a lively yet smooth, balanced palate.
