Pousse d'Or 07 Volnay 1er Cru d'Audignac
Domaine de la Pousse d'Or at Volnay was established in 1954. Its vineyards are anything but ordinary, consisting as they do mainly of premier and grand crus in the villages of Morey-Saint-Denis, Chambolle-Musigny, Corton, Pommard, Volnay, Puligny-Montrachet and Santenay The domaine's 18 hectares yield 90,000 bottles annually and are managed in a spirit of respect for terroir. Domaine de la Pousse d'Or can be traced back to the Dukes of Burgundy and the year 1100. Since 1997, its new owner Patrick Landanger has invested considerable resources both in the vineyards themselves and in the arrangements for vinification and elevage. The Clos D'Audignac is from a north-east facing walled vineyard in Volnay that is just under 1 hectare. The vines were planted in 1966 and no pesticides were sprayed on the vines, only organic fertilizers. The grapes are handpicked and the wine is aged on the lees for 15 months in French oak. Malolactic fermentation takes place fairly late, and the wine is clarified naturally without fining or filtration. Aromatic elements of liquorice, spice and fruit lead into a soft and subtle pinot noir.
