Iannis Vatistas has almost single-handedly revived one of Greece's most storied wine producing regions, the area around Monemvasia on the Peloponnesian peninsula. He is also deeply committed to working with native Greek varietals, one of which is Kidonitsa, so named for its spicy aromas reminiscent of quince (Kidoni in Greek). The wine has aromas and flavors of grapefruit, slate, and smoke, with a long finish. A good match for grilled fish and seafood.
