Gekkeikan has been making and selling sake ever since their founding in 1637 in Fushimi, a district of Japan's former capital of Kyoto. Over the centuries, they have refined their sake brewing techniques and greatly expanded their operations; the sake sold here is made in California with rigid adherence to the original brewing practices. Gekkeikan is naturally brewed and contains no added sulfites; this is their traditional sake, aged approximately six months to achieve a mellow flavor. Serve warmed, room temperature, or chilled.
