1615 Pisco, named for the year the first grape vines appeared in Peru, is produced by Bodega San Nicolás in the historic Pisco Valley. The distillery enjoys a well-earned reputation for its artisanal production using traditional methods, an approach reflected in the nomenclature here: “Pura Quebranta” indicates this Pisco is made from a single grape variety, the Quebranta grape, a non-aromatic variety that was created by Spanish colonists in the 16th century by crossing two European grape varieties, making it one of the few grape varieties native to the Americas. Distilled from recently fermented wine, with no other ingredients added, this is a Pisco with a robust and earthy flavor profile, rich, smooth, and slightly fruity.
