Located in the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn, the Faccia Bruto distillery was founded in the spring of 2020 by Patrick Miller, the former executive chef of Rucola. Miller grew up in an Italian-American household, for which he credits his love for Old World Italian spirits. Early times though this may be for Miller, he can already boast three prestigious awards from the 2020 NY International Spirits Competition: one for Distillery of the Year, a Gold for his Aperitivo, and a Bronze for his Fernet Pianta. This is his amaro, made from a blend of 18botalicals, all chosen to evoke the spirit of the Italian Alps: rhubarb root, dandelion root, and gentian provide a bitter backbone to heady eucalyptus while spruce buds and fir needles. Sweetened with dark clover honey and organic cane sugar, it can settle the stomach after a meal or warm you up on a cool evening.
