Known as the spirit of Costa Rica, Ron Centenario was established in 1981 and released its first rums in 1985. It initially made a bit of a splash in the spirits world as the first rum producer to age its spirits in ex Scotch whisky barrels. The rum is made from locally=grown sugar cane converted to molasses, and pure local spring water, aged for up to twenty years using a modified version of the Spanish solera system. This 20-Year bottling is soft and slightly sweet, with hints of vanilla, milk chocolate, and red fruits.
