Anapea Village is a small family-owned and –run vineyard and winery in the Kakheti region, the easternmost region of Georgia. It was started in 2013 by a husband-and-wife team, Khatia and Gocha, with the intent of rehabilitating the traditions of Georgian grape growing and winemaking. From the start they have farmed organically, and only indigenous grape varieties are planted in their vineyards. Fermentation and maceration takes place entirely in the traditional earthenware vessels called qvevri, which are buried below ground at different levels. “Margo” is an experimental wine they first made in 2020. It is made from Saperavi grapes that fermented on white grape skins. Round and full-bodied, it has aromas and flavors of ripe red fruits with hints of honey and a long finish.
