Located in the Dundee Hills of Oregon’s Willamette Valley, Argyle was founded in 1987 by the partnership of winemaker Rollin Soles and Australian icon Brian Croser, who had worked together at Croser’s Petaluma vineyards in Australia. Champagne Bollinger owner Christian Bizot and importer Robert Chadderdon were involved behind the scenes in the early years. The initial plan was to make only sparkling wines, but in 1992 the winery produced its first still wines; today production is about 50/50. In 2001 Argyle was absorbed by Lion Nathan (now Distinguished Vineyards & Wine Partners) when the Australia-New Zealand brewer acquired Petaluma's wineries. This rosé is produced entirely from Pinot Noir grapes grown in the Eola-Amity Hill region of the Willamette Valley; it is fresh and vibrant, with red fruits, spring flowers, and subtle spice, layered with flavor and textural nuance.
