Located in the heart of Nemea, one of Greece’s most important wine regions, this is a family winery that dates from 1855, when the family plot was a single acre in size. Still relatively small at 25 acres, and now working with a modern winery built in 2007, Athenasiou is a boutique operation, in size and in attitude. Their Nemea Red is 100% Agiorgitiko, the native red variety of the region; bold and juicy, with well balanced acidity and ripe tannins, it show ripe red fruit flavors, with a touch of white pepper on the palate.
