Russell Bevan and his longtime partner Victoria DeCrescenzo moved to California from Minneapolis in 1999. Bevan, who is a self-taught winemaker, got his first shot at making wine professionally in 2005, and by 2015 he was working as a consultant for a number of wineries including Westerhold and Wren Hop. In 2015 Bevan and DeCrescenzo also purchased the Saunders Vineyard in Napa and signed a 35-year lease giving them 90% control of the Tench Vineyard. Grapes for this red were sourced entirely from that vineyard, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot done entirely in French oak. Full-bodied, seamless, layered, and perfectly balanced, the wine has great poise and sophistication with a long graceful finish.
