Vincent Bitouzet’s ancestral roots in Burgundy cover at least the last two centuries. His great-great grandfather, M. Gillotte, arrived in the region in 1802, and in 1804, the Bitouzet line settled in Volnay. The Bitouzets were one of the first of the family domaines in this region to bottle their wines. Vincent’s wife, Annie Prieur, has equally distinguished antecedents, her family having been long establlished in Meursault and Ladoix. Son Francois is now working hand-in-hand with his parents. This is Francois’s Bourgogne Passetoutgrains, from the Grange le Duc vineyard adjacent to Volnay. The wine comprises of 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Gamay. Juicy fruit with a bit of Volnay-esque sense of savory earth create a well balanced wine and enjoyable wine.
