Bodegas Áster is the Ribera del Duero outpost of historic Rioja producer La Rioja Alta. After searching through ideal terroirs for several years, they purchased the old parcel of Finca El Otero in Anguix, Burgos province, in 1993, and set to work to understand how to best capture the essence of these vines. The result was the creation in 2000 of Bodegas Áster. This is Bodegas Áster’s entry-level Crianza, intended to show the perfect blend of structure, fruit, and oak elevage; a blend of Tempranillo from three separate vineyards, it shows vibrancy, structure, and fruit, and is full-bodied, firm and densely packed with fine-grained tannins.
