Bruno Michel is the fourth generation in his family to make Champagne. He and his wife Catherine founded their small estate in 1985 in the village of Pierry, just a few miles south of Epernay. Bruno’s daughter Pauline Orban, a trained oenologist, took over the cellar along with her husband Guillaume in 2016 and under their direction the estate has qualified as one of the very few certified organic houses in Champagne. Their Assemblee Extra Brut is the estate’s non-vintage blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Meurier without dosage. It has a nose of lime, quince, and stone fruits, a creamy mousse, and a deep tactile texture that showcases the earth of the domaine from the clay to the chalk.
