Cantina Orsogna is a biodynamic cooperative located virtually at the entrance to Majella National Park in Abruzzo. Created in 1964, it now comprises 450 partners, making it the largest producer of organic and biodynamic wines in this part of the country. Its members farm nearly 3,000 acres of vines, 80% certified organic and nearly half that certified biodynamic by Demeter. The cantina produces pet nat, a natural sparkling wine bottled during the primary fermentation process, using several different grapes, this being their version made from Pinot Grigio. Like all pet nats, it is fun, fresh, and slightly yeasty, a great introduction for those not yet familiar with the style.
