It was just after the war ended, in 1946, that a group of farmers from throughout Sardinia were offered the opportunity to work recently reclaimed land, thousands of acres of it, in the countryside around Nurra. Thirteen years later one hundred of them joined forces to form the Cantina Santa Maria La Palma. Today membership in the cooperative has grown to 300, cultivating more than 2,000 acres of vineyard, and the cantina is recognized as one of the most important wineries not just in Sardinia but in all of Italy. Their Aragosta rosé is Cabernet-based, savory and llively, with hints of fresh berries and roses.
