Located in the southwestern part of the Montalcino appellation, Caprili is considered one of the “old guard” producers as they were established in 1965 when they split off from the famous Pieve Santa Restituta estate. The location is particularly privileged for it is right in the heart of the Brunello and Rosso production zone The winery today is run by the youthful and dynamic Giacomo Bartolommei; still in his 20s, Bartolommei has at really ratcheted up the quality at this historic estate in recent years. The grapes for this Rosso come from the estate’s younger vines, around ten years old, and the winemaking style is for a wine that drinks younger. Richly fruited on the nose, it has a warm and slightly tannic palate, with a slightly bitter note in the finish.
