Carlisle is a small, family-owned Sonoma County winery specializing in the production of old-vine, vineyard designated Zinfandels and red Rhône/Spanish varieties (Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre, and Petite Sirah); Mike and Kendall Carlisle launched their project in 1998, aiming to create small lots of distinctive, world-class wines from some of California’s most exceptional vineyards. This Zin is proof positive that they have succeeded. A blend of Zinfandel grapes from four different vineyards (mostly Carlisle and Papera) with a smidgen of Alicante Bouschet, this is a spirited red with high-toned aromas, flavors of raspberries and blood oranges, plenty of natural acidity, and a lively, mineral-tinged finish.
