Casa Mariol is two things: it is one of Barcelona’s finest vermouth bars, and it is also the producer of one of Spain’s tastiest vermouths. The Mariol family has been in the wine business for more than a century, operating out of "La Batea" a medieval town in the heart of the Terra Alta region of Catalunya. The current generation, led by Miquel Angel Vaquer and his siblings, has launched a small revolution in packaging and attitude . . . no frills all the way . . . and won major international awards in the process. This is one of their dry table wines, 100% white Grenache from their organically farmed vineyards in Terra Alta. With delicate aromas of orange blossoms and wildflowers, it is rich yet very fresh, with balancing acidity and a long, pleasant finish.
