Castello di Verduno is an historic Piedmontese estate located in Verduno, the northernmost commune of Barolo. The castle itself dates from the 1500s, and the estate has been producing wine since the 1800s. Franco and Gabriella Bianco are today the titular heads of the estate, enjoying the services of a very talented young winemaker, Mario Andrion, who has run the cellar since 2000. The estate makes classic Barolo and Barbaresco, but all involved here have a soft spot in their hearts for the indigenous grape, Pelaverga, that is indigenous to Verduno. Bellis Perennis is made from Pelaverga. A white wine from a red grape, made by not allowing the juice to come in contact with the grape skins, done entirely in stainless steel, fresh and floral, this is a white of great texture and minerality.
