Located in the small town of Oger for four generations, this small winery is today run by Laurent Klepka and his wife Catherine. It was started in the 1920s by Fernand Klepka and his wife Jeanne, both winemakers, who shortly realized they were beset by an unstable economic climate and, with the next generation of daughter Yvonne and her husband Raymond, spearheaded the formation of Oger’s cooperative, “Les Grappes d’Or.” Laurent Klepka is today president of that coop, representing the members of the coop as well as his own family business, Champagne Klepka-Sauss. This Extra Brut is 100% Chardonnay; it is bright and lively with a direct attack on the palate, a creamy texture, and an intense marine freshness that persists on the palate.
