The Bernard family has been a presence in the Vaucluse region of the Rhone since the French Recolution, since 1704, in fact, when an 18-year-old tenant farmer named Jacques Bernard purchased just shy of two acres of land from the Berviguier family. Today, ten generations on, Michel Bernard owns some 175 acres across the southern Rhone region and is the proud owner of Chateau Beauchene, having acquired the property in 1988. His daughters, Estelle and Amandine (the 11th generation) currently manage the property. Their white Cotes du Rhoce, is a blend of five classic white Rhone varietals grown in two of their vineyards, one north and one just south of Orange; delicate yet beautifully balanced, it features aromas and flavors of honey and fresh fruit with a long, satisfying finish.
