This estate has a rich history that dates back to the 18th Century, but it was only in the mid-1980s, when the Myshkin family purchased the property, that wine came to be produced under the Château la Fleur Fompeyre label. The current owner, entrepreneur Jean-Marie Pulido, acquired the property in 2000 and still manages the 125 acres of vineyard,, located on a hilltop in Castillon-la-Bataille, all certified organic since 2011. The vineyards are planted largely to Merlot, not surprising, since the Castillon Cotes de Bordeaux appellation is immediately adjacent to St. Emilion. This vintage, finished with just a splash of Cabernet Sauvignon, is a polished wine with ripe tannins and plenty of spice.
