In 2008 Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie bought Chateau Miraval, with its 150 acres of vineyards, in the south of France. With the help of the Perrins, the noted winemaking family of the southern Rhone, they produced their first rose in 2012 and it sold out within six hours. The “Brangelina” breakup appeared at first to put the future of Miraval in doubt, but so far the brand continues apace. This has never been a celebrity stunt wine, though; it’s a serious wine made by a skilled winemaker. A blend of Cinsault, Grenache and Syrah with a little Vermentino blended in, the wine is refreshing and clean, with aromas of red berries and citrus fruits; it has bright natural acidity and good length.
