With a history dating back to 1143, Chateau du Tertre is one of the oldest properties on the Left Bank. Since 1995 it has been the property of Eric Albada Jelgersma and his wife Louisa, who also own Chateau Giscours. The 200-acre property is planted to a 55/20/15/5 mix of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot in what is one of the largest single blocks not only in Margaux but in all of the Medoc; it is also important to note that this vineyard is one of the few that is the same size today as it was at the time of the 1855 classification. This 2011 is smooth and supple, full of ripe, generous fruit and acidity; it’s framed with firm tannins that lend structure to a palate that has weight and a luscious feel.
