Clos de l'Oratoire is one of several right bank vineyards owned by Stephan von Neipperg, the property having been acquired by Stephan's father in 1972. The vineyard here covers a bit more than thirty acres and is planted to an 80/20 mix of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the vines averaging an impressive 35 years of age. As with all of Neipperg's estates, the "Clos" practices sustainable viticulture and takes a biodynamic approach to vineyard management. Highly rated by all the critics, this vintage offers dark chocolate, black cherries, and espresso on the nose with fresh sweet plums and red berries on the palate, lovely fruit and freshness on the finish.
