Those who love the wines of Alsace will certainly be familiar with the name of Pierre Sparr. That brand and company were sold to the local cooperative in 2007, but young Charles Sparr, representing the 12th generation of the family in Alsace, kept ownership of thirty acres of vineyards. In 2017 Charles and his wife Amelie started their own wine estate, making wines from the Sparr vineyards in Wettolsheim at the Vignoble des 2 Lunes winery (previously known as Buecher-Fix, Amelie’s family winery) along with the wines of the Vignoble des 2 Lunes winery itself. Theirs is a well-rounded Pinot Blanc done entirely in stainless steel; an expressive wine of great personality, it has a floral nose and a ripe, succulent texture.
