Located about 30 miles southwest of Strasbourg, the small village of Reichsfeld has been home to the winemaking Bohn family since the 17th Century. Today this small (a little more than 20 acres) property is in the hands of Bernard Bohn and his son Arthur, who together farm these vineyards biodynamically and produce more than 30 different wines. In France, "en vrac" refers to wine bought in bulk directly from the producer, a centuries-old European tradition where villagers buy their wine in bulk "en vrac" from the local winery. It comes directly from the winemaker's barrels, insuring that they are drinking their favorite wine at the most affordable price. The Bohns offer this white with a nod to their ancestors, as a wine that very much recalls the taste of wines They would have made and sold in this fashion. A blend of Riesling and Sylvaner matured in large barrels for two years before being bottled without fining or filtration, it is a white of great depth and marked minerality.
