Located in the heart of the Muscadet region, right where the two rivers, the Sevre and the Maine, come together, this is a family-owned winery that has made an outstanding reputation for themselves based on their mastery of the signature grape of the region, the Melon de Bourgogne. When they created their “Mythes & Legendes” series, however, the father-daughter team here, Bernard and Louise Chereau decided to use it to focus on other grapes grown in the western part of the Loire Valley. “Pomone,” named for the Roman deity of fruits, showcases Sauvignon Blanc. A fresh, light, zesty treatment of the grape, it is clean and energetic, with bright acidity and a refreshing, slightly rounded texture that gives it both precision and charm.
