Located in the village of Bué, less than three miles from Sancerre proper, Domaine des Vieux Prunier is the project of the Thirot-Fournier family, Christian Thirot-Fournier and his wife and daughter. Together they farm some 25 acres planted to a mix of Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir. They are moving toward a more “sustainable” viticulture regime, and no herbicides are used for the majority of their parcels. Their rosé is 100% Pinot Noir sourced from multiple parcels with a variety of exposures; done entirely in stainless steel and aged on the lees for six months, this is a minerally rosé with flinty, floral notes on the nose and a zesty fruity palate.
