Etienne Bécheras is a veteran grapegrower and winemaker based in the mid-section of the northern Rhône. His 30 acres of vineyards and orchards are found above the village of Arras, largely in the Saint-Joseph appellation, supplemented with limited but well-placed holdings in Crozes-Hermitage, From south-southwest facing gently sloped parcels in Mercurol. Etienne typically produces about 500 cases of this wine annually, half of which is reserved for the US market. This is classic Rhône Syrah, broad and earthy, bottled unfiltered; lush and bright, it offers layers of old-world fruit with a brambly nature and emphatic dried herb accents.
