The late David Lett pioneered grape-growing and winemaking in the Willamette Valley, planting the first Pinot Noir vines there in 1965. Jason Lett took over from his father in 2005 as winemaker and vineyard manager and continues the family’s pioneering legacy. Eyrie has always been known for creating wines that are very approachable when young but also with a (now legendary) ability to age for decades. This is one of six different single-vineyard Pinots Eyrie produces, in addition to their entry-level Willamette Valley blend. The Roland Green vineyard, named for David Lett's father, Roland Green Lett, was planted in 1988. This is a medium-bodied Pinot showing concentratwed brooding fruit supported by grainy tannins and seamless acidity, with a long and spicy finish.
