Weingut Georg Breuer was founded in 1880 in Rudesheim, by the Hillebrand and Scholl families. T was acquired in the early 20th century by Peter Breuer, who subsequently passed it to his son Georg. It was Georg Breuer who built a reputation not just for the estate but for the wines of Rudesheim in general. Today Georg’s granddaughter Theresa runs the estate with her uncle Heinrich as well as longtime manager and icon in the region, Hermann Schmoranz, and cellar master Markus Lunden. Their 105 acres of vineyard, located in prime sites in Berg Schlossberg,, Berg Rottland, Berg Roseeneck, and Nonnenberg, are all farmed organically. This “Sauvage” is Theresa’a introductory dry Riesling, a blend of grapes from various sites; it is very citrusy, with plenty of youthful charm.
