The Hans Wirsching winery ranks among the best known and largest privately held wine estates in all of Franconia. Now in the 14th generation, the Wirsching family has been making wine since the 1630s. Today the estate is in the sure hands of Andrea Wirsching; a prudent estate owner and visionary wine maker, she assures the estate will maintain its reputation as one of Franconia's leading Silvaner producers. A new addition to the lineup with the 2022 vintage, “Dino,” is named for the Keuper soils on which the grapes are grown, Keuper or jurassic clay being a sediment stone from the time when dinosaurs walked through the swamps here 220 million years ago. The wine is a bright, refreshing version of Silvaner, clear, elegant, highly aromatic, with a full, strong mineral taste that lingers on the palate.
