Poggio Anima is a joint venture between one of Tuscany's rising stars, Riccardo Campinoti of Le Ragnaie in Montalcino, and his American importer, Ronnie Sanders of Vine Street Imports. The idea is straightforward: to source great vineyards from existing relationships and produce a real wine that conveys a place and a grape. Building on the seven original wines in this collection, four reds, two whites and a rosé, representing four different wine regions, “Il Mostro” (the Monster) arrives as their newest venture. Made by Federica Jasci in the Abruzzo, Ragana” is a slightly sparkling white, an 85/15 blend of Pecorino and Riesling, made using certified organic fruit, natural fermentations, and zero additions other than a bit of sulfur. The wine has bright aromas of lime, lemon and pear, a palate of fresh stone fruit, and a crisp and refreshing finish.
